Lei è pallida, ha perso le forze, spossata dalla fatica della fuga veloce. Ma vede le onde del Peneo e lo invoca: «Soccorrimi, padre! Se in vio c’è potere divino, fiume, trasforma e smarrisci questa bellezza che acceso un amore eccessivo».
